Easy Lodging in Fort Bragg
Fort Bragg, CA is a Great Last Minute Getaway Town
(FORT BRAGG, CA) -- Fort Bragg is certainly a town that will
help fold you into their quiet way of life. Reservations at the
hotels,
motels and other lodging is usually as easy as picking
up the phone, or stopping by the office. A convenient aspect
of this former logging town is that you can frequently book for
one-night only stays vs. the two night minimums that many visitor-focused
communities require on weekends.
Many of the almost 60 lodging choices in Fort Bragg can be found
along Main Street, which is also Highway 1. The highway actually
runs a bit inland. Much of the coastal land west of Highway 1
in the city property sits currently unused. It is the old Georgia
Pacific timber processing compound. Now gated and quiet, it is
not unlike the bones of a long-ago beached whale – respectfully
viewed by the residents, but untouched.
Inexpensive motels and hotels are plentiful on Main Street.
Weekend nights during high season can run around $100 a night,
depending upon what your are looking for. Some include nice value-adds,
like the Quality Inn & Suites Tradewinds which offers several
hot breakfast selections at the TW’s Grill & Bar as part
of your overnight package. They also have an enclosed pool and
hot tub to help ease away the aches of the day, or provide all
weather entertainment for bored children.
Great views are available on both the south and north ends of
the town. Noyo Harbor is a quaint working harbor that provides
the visitor with images and smells evoking a different time and
way of life. Harbor Lite hovers on the north cliff of the port
and has a number of harbor view rooms. A continental breakfast
is served and there are a variety of room choices from large
suites to more economical rooms.
A great value, especially for all the foodies out there, is
the Rendezvous Inn Bed and Breakfast. This comfortable B&B
located right on Main Street in the old downtown has a dynamite
menu that earned a Zagat “Best of 06” rating. There are only
six rooms, so reservations in advance are usually a necessity.
Rates range from $79 in the winter to $109 in the summer. On
holiday weekends they may require a two-night minimum.
There are a couple of selections for those that need to be right
on the beach. Beachcomber Motel has hot tub suites, fireplaces,
kitchens and direct access to the beach and the Ten Mile coastal
trail. Pets are welcome here as well. Family owned and operated
the Beachcomber is family-friendly from its rates ($59 to $250)
to its amenities.
